Discover The Melbourne We Love
Something for everyone.
Melbourne’s Riverside & Casino
Only a short walk from the hotel, you can enjoy a night out on Southbank and at the Crown Entertainment complex and then stroll back to luxury with our prestigious Collins Street address.
Melbourne’s Southbank precinct houses some of the best restaurants and bars in the city plus great shopping and the Crown Entertainment complex full of family friendly activities and the extensive casino for those feeling lucky.
Starting at Hamer Hall and running along the river until the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre, Southbank is a bustling riverside locale frequented by locals and visitors alike.
The Crown Entertainment complex is home to a variety of restaurants, a fully licensed cinema, live performances and the casino. Stretching over the equivalent to two city blocks it is the largest casino complex in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the largest in the world.
Eat & Drink
In Melbourne you are spoilt for choice when it comes to dining. Just steps from the hotel in the Rialto Precinct, you can find some of the finest establishments in hospitality and dining. Our recommendations include Bonnie Coffee where they really understand coffee, Merchant Osteria Veneta – Guy Grossi’s Venetian Italian eatery, and the internationally renowned fine dining restaurant, Vue de Monde. Shannon Bennet’s Vue de Monde is the Australian evolution of silver-service, where dining meets theatre and serves one of the best degustation menus in town with food that is invention, modern and delicious.
When it comes to Melbourne’s bar scene, hidden laneway bars are the norm and our current favourite is Eau de Vie. Akin to the speakeasies of the 1930s, there is over 300 kinds of whisky, a cocktail degustation, and liquid nitrogen on tape.
Melbourne has a plethora of shopping options, start on Flinders Lane and discover niche retailers. A highlight is Christine which is owned and operated by a local fashion stalwart, emphasising both art and atmosphere with an air of sophistication and selling beautiful accessories and fashion items. Another iconic Melbourne boutique is Lord Coconut, a maker of peculiar men’s accessories.
Inner City Suburbs
Moving out of the city, take time to visit the inner city microcosms of Fitzroy and Collingwood. The suburb’s outer walls are coated with beautiful street art, showcasing the local council’s devotion to free expression and creativity.
This part of Melbourne is full of unique stores. Tarlo & Graham is a unique stockist of all things antique, decorative and peculiar. James Makin, one of Melbourne’s most renowned contemporary art galleries, is located in an old Collingwood warehouse down the street.
And not far from there is South of Johnson, experience a dog friendly space, and one of the best breakfast and coffee the city has to offer. And when you have finished exploring and are ready for lunch or dinner, try Saint Crispin with its cutting edge culinary designs with wines to match.
