Family Easter and April School Holiday Activities

Easter in Melbourne 2017

The Easter long weekend falls on the first weekend of the Victorian school holiday break this year and is a great chance for a getaway with the whole family. There are some great activities happening in the city to celebrate Easter and to entertain the kids these school holidays.

If you are looking to celebrate Easter there are a number of Good Friday and Easter Sunday services held in churches across the city, view Melbourne city church details here.

Have children that will be on the lookout the Easter Bunny? The Annual Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt and Family Picnic takes place on Good Friday and raises money for The Royal Children’s Hospital’s Good Friday Appeal. This iconic event is the largest Easter egg hunt in Australia and takes place in Werribee Park which is a 30 minute drive from the hotel and makes for a fun family day out.

Another fun family excursion, is the Easter Show which takes place over the Easter weekend in Cranbourne, a 45 minute drive to Melbourne’s South East. Featuring an Easter egg hunt, animal farm, rides, amusements, show bags and fireworks this is a great day of fun and time spent together.

There are also great family activities throughout the city that will keep the kids entertained and be fun for the whole family. We love visiting the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel, ice skating at the O’Brien Group Arena and seeing the city on high from the Eureka Skydeck.
